Homeless applications 2015/16

In 2015/16 a total of 1585 households applied to the council as either homeless or threatened with homelessness or for housing advice. The figures for Berwick are based on former district council area.

The homelessness figures for Northumberland show that 12%(45) of all homeless applicants were from the Berwick area.

Of the 45 homeless applications in Berwick 42% (19) were assessed as being homeless and in priority need of which 18 were rehoused by a registered provider.

Homeless applications by decision

Households who are threatened with homelessness or require housing advice are recorded as homeless preventions. In 2015/16 Berwick had a total of 122 homeless preventions of which 44 were for housing advice and 78 were preventions.

During 2015/16 a total of 10 Berwick households who were threatened with homelessness were rehoused in the private rented sector.
